Biography

Marvi Ablaza Gil is a healthcare leader, integration expert, and media professional with extensive experience in forensic psychiatry, migrant integration, and public communication in Iceland and the Nordic region. She currently serves as Deputy Department Manager for Forensic Psychiatry at Landspítali University Hospital, overseeing clinical operations, admissions, staffing, and crisis intervention within psychiatric intensive care.

Marvi is a Member of the Nordic Migrant Expert Forum (2025–2027), a ministry-appointed advisory body guiding Nordic cooperation on integration, labor market access, education, health, gender equality, and social inclusion. She also contributes to Landspítali’s Working Group on the Integration of Foreign Nurses, supporting national efforts to recruit and integrate internationally trained healthcare professionals.

Her educational background reflects a strong focus on mental health and global healthcare: she completed a Fellowship in Peer-Led Mental Health Leadership at Yale University, a Diploma in Tropical Medicine at KIT Amsterdam, and studies in Global Mental Health at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam).

Marvi also brings a rich media and leadership background, having served as columnist for Iceland Review and held senior editorial and operational roles in the Philippines, including Editor at Inquirer Publications and Operations Director at Philippinewide Media Group, where she drove organizational transformation and significant revenue growth.

Marvi is recognized for her expertise in counseling psychology, crisis communication, and cross-cultural leadership, combining clinical insight, policy knowledge, and advocacy to advance healthcare and integration initiatives.
